Industry Firsts Pioneered by the Lincoln Versailles

The 1977 Lincoln Versailles sales brochure touts, "And an option exclusive to Versailles among all luxury cars is an integral electronic garage door opener which is handily located on the visor."
   

 Working with Osram-Sylvania, Ford introduced the halogen headlights on the 1979 Lincoln Versailles. Ford promoted the safety advantages of these brighter lights.

   
 The clear coat paint process was first introduced on American cars by the 1977 Lincoln Versailles.
   
The 1978 Lincoln Versailles leads Ford's 302 to the fore-front of engine electronics with its EEC I, electronic engine control system.
